Dental Radiology

Safe Dental X-Rays

Dental Radiology utilizes advanced imaging technology to capture clear, detailed views of  teeth, jawbone and surrounding facial structures.   It allows us to diagnose problems accurately and design precise, personalized treatment plans before minor issues become major concerns.

Intraoral Periapical Radiograph

Intraoral Periapical Radiograph

Intraoral Periapical Radiograph

An IOPA dental X-ray provides a detailed view of an individual tooth, including its roots, surrounding bone and the area around the root tip. It helps dentists accurately diagnose cavities, infections, bone loss, dental trauma and root canal-related concerns while supporting precise treatment planning.

Bitewing Radiograph

Bitewing X-rays provide a detailed view of the upper and lower back teeth, making them especially effective for detecting cavities between teeth at an early stage. They also help assess bone support and existing fillings, allowing us to identify problems early and provide more conservative treatment.

Panoramic Radiograph

Panoramic Radiograph

OPG provides a comprehensive view of the entire mouth, including the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures, in a single image. It is useful for treatment planning, assessing wisdom and impacted teeth, detecting jaw conditions and evaluating bone levels for dental implants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, dental X-rays are considered very safe. The amount of radiation from a full set of bitewing X-rays or a panoramic (OPG) scan is minimal—often comparable to the natural background radiation you receive from the environment in a single day. Our strict safety protocols ensure patient well-being while delivering essential diagnostic information.

Each type of X-ray serves a different diagnostic purpose:

  • Intraoral Periapical: Shows the entire tooth from crown to root tip, ideal for diagnosing infections, abscesses or root fractures
  • Bitewing: Captures upper and lower back teeth in one image, mainly to detect      cavities between teeth and monitor bone levels
  • Panoramic (OPG): Provides a broad, single-view image of all teeth, jaws, sinuses      and joints—useful for treatment planning, wisdom teeth assessment and      identifying pathology

Not necessarily. Routine check-ups may not require X-rays unless there are specific concerns. However, an X-ray may be required if you're experiencing pain, planning treatment like fillings/implants or due for preventive screening. The decision is based on clinical need, not routine protocol.

Clear Advantage of Proactive Radiographic Care

Dental X-rays are far more than routine snapshots. They are foundational tools in the early detection and strategic management of oral health concerns. From uncovering hidden decay between teeth to identifying bone loss or impacted wisdom teeth, radiographic imaging allows dental professionals to see what isn’t visible during a standard clinical exam.

In treatment planning, X-rays provide essential detail about root structure, jawbone density, and tooth positioning—information vital for procedures such as root canal therapy, dental implants or orthodontic alignment. They also play a key role in preventive care by tracking changes over time, ensuring minor concerns don’t progress into major problems.

Staying ahead of oral health issues starts with visibility—literally.
